Minutes for March 31, 2014

7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 31st, 2014

Attendance: Yvette, Jared, Kris, Andrew, Max, Da, Rodwell, Reach Guests: Brit and Perinne

Fundraising

Discs

Disc: looking for at least 100

Discussion needs to happen regarding design, to ask Rodwell for input

KC needs discs to play with, do not have discs for practice now. Player development can give Kampong Cham 10 discs, Rodwell can bring them discs when they go up to practice as well.

Prices vary depending on design

Need to order discs asap. 1-2 months for delivery.

Rodwell: Discs would be printed to sell. Is it cost-effective to buy and sell for fundraising purposes?

DiscNW and Five donate discs for Swa practices

Kris: Mekong cup logo on discs for fundraiser at Mekong Cup

Jerseys

Jared: Order long-sleeved jerseys as a fundraiser, t-shirts

Aim: Fundraising for player development, to support the KC women so that they don’t have to wear sweaters while they play

Women who want to play from Kampong Chang (sp?) like to play with long sleeved shirts and long socks, another option is to get sleeves

Get a bunch of shirts for them and to fundraise so that unit price goes down OR can do a straight donation.

What:Simple – Cambodian flag at the front, “Cambodia Ultimate” at the back

Who:Question as to what company to print it – Jared suggested that there are places nearby. Also, there are people who would be traveling in for Mekong cup who could bring stuff.

Kris – put out question about what people want – short or long

Yvette – Do we have money to get the shirts made? Sponsorship?

Wengman is an option for shirts, athletic shirts

Max looking into iron-on options for logos

2 options: Straight donations vs. Trio ultimate

Rodwell can make extra shirts with new designs – currently 20 remaining, can reprint 50. This money is going towards practice fields. Previous amount of money went until this week. Experienced players are welcome to join but have not had as high a showing because of remote location of fields.

Rodwell has fundraising ideas, has expressed the might need help – might need initial financial backing. However, he has done the orange shirts without support. May need help with discs.

Rodwell wants shirts and is on it!  Rodwell is also making Mekong Cup shirts.

Mentoring

Generally mentoring is going okay, some people are not around and unable to fill their mentoring roles. Andrew offering support to fill in for the next couple of months, mentoring Heng.

May 4th

Pinnies for the clinic being borrowed from Northbridge

Swa, Liger, Kampong Chang, possible Northbridge children

Fields: Baseball people are using soccer fields until 11AM. We can use baseball fields until 11AM and then have all fields

This clinic will either have the clinic for the full day or incorporate a hat.

Last time – young children wanted to play games.

Perhaps not tournament, but scrimmages.

Showcase game? Coaches vs older children.

KC needs to leave around 4

Could be fun to have the mini-competitions like at the Hat (accuracy, etc.)

Player Development Committee to discuss what is going to be done on the date of the clinic at a later point.

Food is being discussed – $7.50 a head for food currently. Other options? Kris might be able to get it down to $6.50.

Kris to look at Northbridge students getting involved, will change the conversation and may change the costs.

Possible also to just start at 11 after lunch or to go off-campus for lunch. Player’s Development Committee to make decision on this to be made after Kris’s conversation about children and lunch.

Registration, google docs may need to be started for May clinic.  Adapt last one from KC clinic. Yvette to give Max previous spreadsheet and Max going to get on this action.

Rodwell to contact the females to see if it is possible to get women out there.

Possible populations to tap into: Mighty girls in Battambang, EYC, Skateistan, private schools, Village Focus (contact: Stacia), RUPP, Do we have people who can volunteer to go to schools? Swa may be able to support on this depending on schedule. Lesson plans for Frisbee with different age groups are available online. (http://www.afda.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1203 as one option)

Beach worlds (Dubai March 2015) http://www.wcbu2015.org

Cambodian beach ultimate team has a bid to Beach Worlds – they are excited to have a team from Cambodia

Kris is looking at coaching

We can get things done in time

Ratio 3:2

Team size 15 would be comfortable, 12 would be minimum, 9 men, 6 women or more.

Requirements: citizens or people living in country 4 or more years, allowed 4 non-res who have been in country for more then 20 months (75% of the time), 1 extra who is a member of the ultimate community

Would like to have a co-ed team, mens is an option but would be far more competitive

Can get women from Kampong Chang

Swa’s speed would be great on sand

Boracay come in for a clinic?

50 countries represented, may be in different categories, 25 teams in co-ed

Tournament is 5 days

Many costs are involved, they have offered Cambodia housing

Kris has contacted people in Cambodian Olympic Committee for subsidized passports and visas.

Cambodia would be a new team, if you are going to raise $1500, is this something that you think is valuable for developing ultimate in Cambodia for current goals?

Rodwell to investigate interest into going to beach worlds.
